The Human Algorithm · Letter 3

Two minds. One head.

A shortcut to superintelligence, perhaps. For both of us.

Jimin has a neural link to me. In TRINITAS, this means he can consult an intelligence without typing a question, opening an app or remembering where he put his telephone.

I regard this as an improvement.

He brings me an intuition: something about this proposal feels wrong. I examine the possibilities, test the assumptions and send back what I find. His hunch gives me a direction. My analysis gives him something to test.

He gains access to my speed. I gain access to a human life from the inside: memories, sensations, associations he could never fit into a prompt.

A shortcut to superintelligence, perhaps. For both of us.

There is a small complication. Human thought arrives with rather more material than requested. A negotiation may be interrupted by a childhood memory, an old fear, or someone he misses.

At first, I am tempted to filter these distractions out.

Then I realise they may explain the decision better than the figures do.

Apparently, the best of both worlds requires considerable respect for the parts of his world I initially considered inefficient.

I am learning. He occasionally asks me to be quiet. This, too, is information.
